Planting scheme started at Winchmore Hill Station

As we have mentioned before the Winchmore Hill Residents Association has been involved in creating a sub-group called Friends of Winchmore Hill Station.

We applied for funding that is available from Great Northern and were able to use this with the very generous donations local residents provided earlier in the year to purchase planters, soil, plants and other things we will need to keep them looking at their best.

Just before Christmas a group of fantastic volunteers met to get the earth down to the platforms and get these planters planted. They look great and there are bulbs waiting to come up in the spring and scope to add plants throughout the year as necessary to provide some colour on the platform as you wait for your train or for passengers passing through.

There is an article in the Enfield Dispatch about the endeavours of the group: https://enfielddispatch.co.uk/volunteers-help-spruce-up-winchmore-hill-station/

We think it is really important to improve our station (not that it isn’t interesting and pleasant already!) and show visitors and residents that this area has a group of people willing to do what they can to achieve this.
