Crime prevention and policing in Winchmore Hill

Many thanks to all of you who came to the AGM, it was well attended with around 50 people making it despite the stormy day we had. There were some really interesting updates from various groups and more on that in a future email but we had a visit from our PCSO Luke Lancaster and our Police Constable Michelle Carty. It was much appreciated that they agreed to stop by, introduce themselves and update us on what is happening locally and how we can work to prevent crime.

We wanted to share the leaflets they brought with them and what they said about crime locally. We were also told to encourage our members to contact them so they know what is happening and for you to let them know about criminal and anti-social behaviour locally. They can be contacted via these emails:

Luke can be contacted at: luke.lancaster@met.police.uk
Michelle can be contacted at:  p235736@met.police.uk

If you felt it was appropriate and relevant for the association to know then please also copy in info@whresidents.org

They also said you don’t have to give your name or address when you send them an email if you are concerned about reporting something anonymously so please do let them know about issues and do what you can to make our community as safe and crime free as possible.

The main forms of crime locally are car crime and theft from property and we are not alone in this situation which is affecting many areas across London.

They have provided some leaflets and we have other resources relating to other crimes that you can protect yourself from by reading below. They said if you wanted advice on how to secure your home or your car then you can email them and they can drop by to see you and let you know what you can do.

All these leaflets can be accessed via the “Crime” page on the website here as well

You can also keep up to speed on crime prevention and other local crime related news by signing up to the Safer Neighbourhood newsletter, you can do this via www.owl.co.uk which is an online neighbourhood watch scheme.

Here is the November Safer Neighbourhoods Newsletter for Winchmore Hill which makes for interesting reading and has lots of crime prevention advice.
